Au Sable River Area

The Au Sable River stretches from near the city of Grayling to Oscoda on the shore of Lake Huron.  The Au Sable is a popular locale for canoeing and kayaking trips, as well as being famous for the best trout fishing spot in Michigan.  Campsites are available at locations along the length of the river.
The Au Sable River is also the site of the Au Sable River International Canoe Marathon, a 120 mile canoe race from Grayling to Oscada.  1998 marks the 50th anniversary of the race and the Au Sable River Festival, which runs from July 25 - 27.  Parades, crafts, dancing, and an antique car show are all part of the festival.
